Photos Week 5 - Rifugio I Tre Alpini to Ceillac
The climate change of the southern Alps was striking as we soon encountered dry, heavily eroded valleys.
On our approach to Briançon we opted for a 'variante' along the stunning Crête de Peyrolle with views to
match. For our rest day we travelled in to Briançon to explore the town and watch a stage finish
for the Tour de France - huge crowds, lots of razzamatazz, the presence of Sarkozy but too little real
sporting excitement. Another high col (Col des Ayes) took us in to the Queyras, reputed to be the sunniest
of all the Alpine areas.
