Pete's Blog - Week 6(c)
Again the col was magnificent with peaks of all shapes and sizes. A lone mountain biker ( VTT ) passed us as we neared the col and soon the 'pack' were passing us. We could see a huge fort as we approached the Col de Mallemort and the backup team for the VTT race was there. Suddenly a helicopter appeared and landed ( very exciting! ) with the logo 'Iron Bike' on the side and a video cameraman inside. It was obviously an important event? The descent into Larche was very pleasant until Josiane noticed four little feet paddling the air in a stream. It was a ewe that had obviously tried to drink but had fallen in and couldn't get out. I pulled her out and she seemed to recover OK.
We had our rest day in Larche: Sue and Ivan climbed a mountain and Josiane and I ( being lazy ) caught the bus to pretty Barcelonette for the day. Cont - 6d
