Pete's Blog Alps 2007

Pete's Blog - Week5(e)
We said goodbye to Judy the next morning and headed for the Col du Fromage ( 2301m ) and then Ceillac ( 1639m ). The climb was steep to begin with and the flies became very fond of us! We were following the 'torrent' but there was not much water in it as had been the case with all the streams for the last few days. As the climb eased we started get views north to where we had been and saw rows of flattened tree that had been victims of avalanches. We were level with the col even though it was far ahead of us - one of the easier cols to get to! The walk down from the col into Ceillac was a dream! The village had built the path with an easy gradient and it wound for an hour through a scree garden that would put Chelsea Flower Show to shame! Ceillac itself is a beautiful town and has all the services you would need, including an italian patisserie that sold ice cream. It is also a farming town with hay carts being unloaded into a barn next to the town hall.
