For light relief - Backpacks, Boots and Baguettes by Simon Calder and Mick Webb (Virgin)

The best maps we have found are the 1:50 000 Carte de Randonnees series for the Pyrenees. There are 11 maps in the series and all except No.9 are required for the walk
