July 4th Rifugio Campo Base - good dormitory accommodation : excellent food
July 5th Rifugio Pian Meleze - friendly atmosphere : good food : separate room : little English
July 6th - 7th Stayed in La Liero, an excellent B & B in Genzana (1k above Pontechianale) : ate very well in restaurants in Pontechianale. Advised not to use Taverna del Sole : Rifugio Savigliano may be an option
July 8th Rifugio Quintino Sella - very large refuge in stunning site (see photo above!) : swamped by rather haughty climbers who disapprove of walkers : cramped dormitory accommodation : quite regulated and a bit impersonal : large portions of food : needs booking in advance : ibex very close to refuge
July 9th Rifugio Barbara Lowrie - comfortable accommodation : very good food : very friendly
