Nothing prepares you for a first visit to a developing country. The assault on all your senses, the
daily challenges to expectations of ' normality ' and, above all, the apparent richness of life amidst
poverty on a scale we cannot imagine.
Our visit embraced the tumultuous and chaotic experience of the Kathmandu valley and two treks deep in
to the Himalayas, one in the Langtang Valley and the other around the Annapurna Circuit. Follow the Trekking
link for options on how to plan your trek, the Advice link for essential tips
on trying to remain healthy, insured and safe, the Useful Links page for ways to prepare in advance and
the Photos link for information and pictures about a variety of aspects of Nepali life.
We owe our visit to Nepal to our good friends, Peter and Rosemary Reid.

of two and a half year's VSO based in Kathmandu gives a fuller and deeper insight in to
Nepali life and culture than can be gleaned from a 6 week visit.
