A Taste of Spain
Starting from the southernmost tip of Spain less than 10 miles from the North African coast we trekked for 6 weeks in to the heart of the Sierra Nevada. The varying scenery and sights of Andalucia included the curiosity that is Gibraltar, forests of cork oaks, pylons topped with storks on nests, farms where bulls are bred for the ring, barren limestone massifs, vast orchards of citrus fruits, small parched settlements, larger towns steeped in history and finally the Moorish villages of the Alpujarras and the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Our talk is thematic showing the trail itself, the scenery, flora and wildlife, aspects of history, agriculture, life in towns and villages and local culture and terminating in the climax of the Semana Santa processions of Holy Week. Join us to share some magnificent scenery and a flavour of a lifestyle far removed from that of northern Europe.
